ABOUT THE PROJECT

Mining, on your terms.

Bytecoin Web Miner is an opt-in browser interface for connecting to a Bytecoin mining pool. It is designed to make pool mining approachable while keeping the controls and trade-offs clear.

How it works

Nothing mines until you enter a public wallet address and choose Start mining. The page then starts Web Workers that run the CryptoNight-family hashing code in WebAssembly. A restricted server-side WebSocket bridge forwards supported mining messages to the selected pool port.

In your browser

WebAssembly performs hashing in worker threads. The dashboard displays hashrate, share counts, and elapsed time.

Pool connection

The worker submits pool work through a secure WebSocket connection. Shares and payouts are handled under the pool's rules.

Your controls

Choose the pool difficulty and CPU thread limit. Stop the miner whenever you want.

Live information

Public pool statistics are shown on the home page. Account statistics are requested only after you start with the Bytecoin Network pool.

Performance and expectations

Browser mining is not a promise of profit. It can use substantial CPU time, electricity, and generate heat. Performance and any rewards vary by device, network conditions, accepted shares, pool fees, and payout rules.

This miner is best treated as an educational or lightweight way to participate. Use a modest thread count, keep your device adequately ventilated, and stop if it becomes hot or unresponsive. Phones and laptops may throttle or be unsuitable for sustained workloads.

Technology

  • Vanilla JavaScript, HTML, and CSS for the interface
  • WebAssembly and Web Workers for hashing
  • Native Canvas API for the hashrate chart
  • Node.js WebSocket-to-TCP bridge with restricted pool destinations and methods

The web app does not load analytics, advertising, chart, or font libraries from a third-party CDN. The mining pool and its infrastructure remain separate services.

Compatibility

Use a current browser with WebAssembly, Web Workers, and WebSocket support. Background tabs may be throttled, and mobile browsers can impose strict resource and thermal limits. Keep the miner tab open and visible for more consistent behavior.
